Ibiza offers endless plans and places of interest to visit. Its natural and monumental wealth means that visitors can enjoy a new experience every day.
Its coves bathed by the Mediterranean, its pine forests and its particular rural architecture converge with modern spaces designed for nightlife and parties. There is an Ibiza for every moment of the day.
Below, are some of the best things to do in Ibiza, as well as the most beautiful corners of the island.
Rounding the island by boat enjoying the best Ibizan coves and Mediterranean landscapes is an experience that you can’t afford to miss. You have several options depending on your preferences. For fans of music and cocktails, a catamaran party at sunset will be something to remember. On the other hand, if you prefer quiet times or to make family plans, you can rent a private boat to visit the less crowded natural corners and marvel at the island’s biodiversity. One of the most popular boat trips is the one that takes you to Formentera, twenty-two kilometers from Playa d'en Bossa.
Epicenter of the island, the ancient fortified town of Dalt Vila dominates the upper part of Ibiza and js home to numerous points of cultural interest. The old town preserves heritage assets of great interest, like the bastions of Santa Llúcia or Sant Joan, where Ibiza’s Museum of Contemporary Art is located; the 13th century cathedral of Santa María; the Can Botino mansion, an example of classic Renaissance architecture; the baroque church of Santo Domingo, and Can Comasema, today the headquarters of the Puget Museum. The entire route is bordered by a wall built in the 16th century after a design by Giovanni Battista Calvi. We recommend you start this historical walk at the Portal de Ses Taules, the main and most spectacular entrance.
Formentera and its virgin beaches are a year-round paradise. The island, the perfect getaway for lovers of ecotourism, is dedicated to meeting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. It is home to more than 17 native species of orchid, Posidonia, the oldest living being in the world, and the ornithological itinerary of the Camí des Brolls. It also has artisan markets, 18th century ruins and a wide variety of restaurants serving traditional food. You can go by ferry from Ibiza, either by ship or using the services of a sea taxi.
The Balearic island is an unrivalled expert when it comes to dancing, music, shows and parties. There are performances for all tastes. Ibiza has become a meeting point for music industry professionals who gather every summer to bring us the top nightlife options. You can choose between discos, beach clubs, live music, hippie parties or electronic sessions with major figures on the international scene.
Recognized as a World Heritage Site since 2001, the Ses Salines Nature Park is a space of great cultural, ecological and landscape value. It occupies a territory of 1,786.52 hectares of land and 13,611.80 hectares of sea, spanning from the south of Ibiza to the north of Formentera. We can find a huge variety of environments in this reserve, with different ecological characteristics: beaches, dunes, centuries-old junipers, cliffs populated with pine trees, archaeological remains of great interest and saline ponds.
One of the most beautiful experiences that Ibiza offers are its sunsets. To enjoy this beautiful moment when the sky is tinted with warm colors, we have two recommendations for seeing the best sunset in Ibiza.
On the one hand, you can visit Cala Benirrás and inhale the island’s hippie spirit. Every Sunday during the summer months, there is a kind of hippie party with drums to say goodbye to the day. The energy and magnetism of that moment will make you want to return.
Or you can experience another of Ibiza's magical sunsets at the Es Vedrá viewpoint. The sun hides behind the islet of the same name, leaving one of the most unforgettable and postable images of the island.
Since the coast of Ibiza varies from north to south with areas of calm waters and others of intense waves, it’s the perfect place to practice all types of water sport.
If you want to admire the marine fauna without going too far from the shore, you’ll find hidden beaches with calm, transparent waters ideal for snorkeling. Other people prefer a paddlesurf tour while discovering the most hidden coves and caves on the Ibiza coast. You can also rent kayaks on the beach so you can exercise while you visit the sights. Lovers of diving can visit magnificent places such as Na Coloms, popularly known as the Cave of Light, in the north of the island.
Certain very picturesque areas of the island are hard to get to, so it’s best to explore them by off-road vehicle. There are a great many activities available, from short excursions to areas of interest, to full-day excursions to explore the entire island. These routes usually have a guide who tells the history of the place and points out the native flora and fauna, while traveling along dirt roads between pine forests and peasant cottages. They also include stops to eat and enjoy the Ibizan gastronomy.
