The best beaches in Sicily

Sicily's coastline is a paradise for beach lovers, with charming options for all tastes.

Sicily is a paradise for beach lovers, from the vast stretches of fine white sand in Mondello to the impressive limestone cliffs of Scala dei Turchi, the bustling beach scenes around Palermo, or the more authentic flavor of fishing villages like San Vito lo Capo. The ideal plan is to combine visits to the main archeological sites with a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.

Cala Gallo

Cala Gallo

North of Palermo is this charming beach, ideal for nature lovers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of tourist areas. Its blue and crystal-clear waters will delight diving enthusiasts, as they allow you to enjoy the rich marine life and impressive coral reefs. Located next to the stunning Capo Gallo Nature Reserve, the cove is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, cliffs, and sea caves, creating a tranquil and relaxing environment.

Mondello

Mondello is the capital's beach and one of the Italians' favorites for its natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere from morning to night. Its light sand reflects the sun and contrasts with the sea, which changes color depending on the sky and the season. Without doubt, a true feast for the senses From May to September, it is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, and characteristic colorful cabins that you can rent for the day. The seaside promenade, flanked by Art Nouveau villas and exotic palm trees, features charming restaurants where you can enjoy fresh fish caught from the harbor boats every morning.

Isola Bella

In the lower part of Taormina, specifically in the coastal area of Mazzarò, the wonderful and special Isola Bella emerges from the turquoise depths, an island transformed into a spectacular garden with native plants and species from the Mediterranean region. When the tide is low, a short gravel and pebble path connects Isola Bella with the Mazzarò area. Protected by a natural bay and mountains, there is hardly any wind on this islet, making it ideal for a peaceful swim or a relaxing day of sun and beach .

Scala dei Turchi

If you’re visiting the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, you must complete your trip by watching the sunset from Scala dei Turchi. This impressive geological formation of limestone rock has eroded over the years, creating beautiful steps and natural terraces that descend toward the turquoise sea. Although climbing the rock is prohibited, you can still take a dip or simply relax on the nearby beaches.

San Vito Lo Capo

At the foot of Mount Monaco lies San Vito Lo Capo, a charming fishing village on Sicily’s northwest coast. Besides its cultural and gastronomic richness, San Vito lo Capo stands out for its spectacular beach, with fine pink sand and clear blue waters. This coast is often referred to as the "Italian Caribbean". The village is close to the Zingaro Nature Reserve, a breathtaking natural area where you can hike and discover the native flora and fauna.

Lido Mazzaró

The best way to reach Lido Mazzaró is by sea after exploring the fascinating Sicilian coast. This beach of fine golden sand and turquoise waters is a favorite for water sports like snorkeling and diving, due to the abundant marine biodiversity along its shores. Additionally, it offers excellent sunbed and umbrella rental services, as well as bars and restaurants where you can enjoy typical bites in a relaxed atmosphere. When the tide is low, a winding pebble path leads to the magical Isola Bella. At sunset, we recommend taking the funicular back to Taormina to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the bay and Mount Etna.

Isla de los Conejos (Isola dei Conigli)

This small bay with an islet in its center is a true paradise on earth. In 2013, it was named "the most beautiful beach in the world" by Tripadvisor, and it remains at the top of European rankings and among the top ten in the world. The beach is located in Lampedusa, opposite the Isle of Rabbits, which can be reached by swimming or walking when the tide is low and a sandbar emerges. This tranquil and secluded spot stands out for its crystal-clear waters and white sandy beach, surrounded by cliffs in perfect condition. It is also ideal for snorkeling or diving due to the abundance of fish that inhabit its waters. You can reach it by boat or on foot after a twenty-minute walk.
