Activities and excursions in Riviera Nayarit

Releasing Sea Turtles

Of the seven species of sea turtles in the world, six come to Mexico each year between June and November to nest and lay their eggs. In recent years, sea turtle releases in Riviera Nayarit have become a significant tourist attraction. The Mexican Government and marine biologists have created several sea turtle protection programs, including farms dedicated to their collection, incubation, and release. Participating in these conservation efforts and holding a newborn hatchling before releasing it into the sea is one of the most rewarding experiences in Riviera Nayarit.
